There are several steps in becoming a professional engineer.
- Graduate from an ABET accredited civil engineering program.
- Take and pass the fundamental exam.
- Work under the supervision of a professional engineer for a period of four years. Credit for part of the four years can be earned by completing the co-op program or completing a graduate degree.
- Take and pass the professional engineering exam.
